Been out and about with Halloween makeup this past week?  If you have, then you need to deep clean your makeup brushes. All that scary “warpaint” will mean your makeup brushes, sponges and tools need a really good deep clean before using them again.

After washing your makeup brushes, leave the head to air dry 360 degrees

It’s not just about looking after your brushes, but by cleaning and sanitizing your makeup brushes and tools, you can reduce the risk of breakouts, achieve better application and extend the life of your makeup

Wipe any residue off your makeup brushes before starting our post Halloween clean up.  Deep clean with our fantastic The Pro Hygiene Makeup Brush, Sponge and Sanitizing Wash first,  This really deep cleans the brushes and sponges.  Repeat as many times as necessary to remove those dark colours from your brushes and sponges.  Once cleaned, allow to dry naturally.  Our top two tips on shampooing makeup brushes:-

  1. When washing makeup brushes, never leave them to soak on water as it starts to damage and loosen the glue that holds the bristles in the ferrule (the metal bit than encases the brush head to the brush handle) and you will start to loose hairs from the brush. By cleaning your makeup brushes regularly, not are you going to get better application of your makeup, but you will be extending the life of your makeup brushes which we know can be expensive.  Look after your makeup tools and they will love you for it.
  2. When drying makeup brushes from washing, squeeze gently the excess water out, then wipe them with a clean towel or better still a kitchen towel before leaving them to air dry. Ensure the head of the brush is exposed 360 degrees by laying the brush head over the side of a table on a towel so that the brushes do not dry flat one side. Air gets to the bristles quicker, so quicker drying. Don’t be tempted to put on a radiator either.
